Big Horn Rehabilitation & Care Center Announces New Hospice Care Unit and Community Donation Effort

December 23, 2025

Sheridan, WY — Big Horn Rehabilitation & Care Center is proud to announce the upcoming opening of a dedicated hospice care unit within its facility, expanding access to compassionate, end-of-life care for individuals transitioning from their homes who require a higher level of clinical and nursing support.

The new hospice unit will initially include eight private rooms, with plans to expand to 15 private rooms as community support allows. Each room is being thoughtfully designed to provide a peaceful, comfortable, and home-like environment for patients and their loved ones during an important and deeply personal stage of life.

Hospice services within the unit will be delivered through trusted partnerships with local hospice providers, including Everwind Hospice, allowing patients to receive specialized hospice care while benefiting from Big Horn’s 24/7 nursing presence and on-site clinical support.

Big Horn Rehabilitation & Care Center is located at 1851 Big Horn Ave Sheridan, WY 82801

A Community-Focused Hospice Space

To support the build-out of the hospice care unit, Big Horn Rehabilitation & Care Center is seeking approximately $150,000 in community donations, along with in-kind contributions such as furniture, artwork, décor, and other items that help create a warm, calming, and dignified environment.

“We want this space to feel peaceful and personal, not clinical,” said a representative from Big Horn Rehabilitation & Care Center. “This is truly a community project, and we welcome support in many forms—whether that’s financial contributions or items that bring comfort and dignity to those we serve.”

Because of Big Horn’s nonprofit structure, all monetary and in-kind donations are tax-deductible.

How to Get Involved

Community members, families, local businesses, and organizations interested in supporting the hospice care unit or learning more about donation opportunities are encouraged to contact Big Horn Rehabilitation & Care Center directly. Additional details about specific needs, timelines, and ways to participate will be shared in the coming weeks.

This initiative reflects Big Horn’s ongoing commitment to ensuring that individuals and families in Sheridan and the surrounding region have access to compassionate, high-quality care at every stage of life.
